weightless by hypnothalamus weightless by hypnothalamus
the weightless soul
adrift
into infinity...
its shell,
the chain,
an empty heart,
in mind
serenity

Mixed media sculpture:
The upper body is made out of very light modeling clay, the cloth is hardened with super glue (if you ever do this, open the window and DON'T inhale the vapors). There's a metal tube inside the cloth holding the whole thing in the air. The chain is sustained by a metal wire and so is the piece of cloth that's floating.
The sculpture is about 50cm high.

I would like to thank ^Thebuild for the DD and all who faved and commented on this

I love the simplicity of Weightless by *NegativeFeedback, leaving details such as the face blank helps the viewer to focus more on the theme of the sculpt. The thin flowing cloth along with the pose helps create a sense of weightlessness with only the chain securing the figure to the ground and preventing it from drifting off. ( Featured by Thebuild )

I feel this was created in climat of Salvador Dahli's works. Wonderfull, this human beeing looks like ready to start the flight.

this might come as a surprise, but I don't like Dali
I did when I was very little, mostly impressed by the richness of his paintings but I grew out of it a long time ago

I like Dahli on my ovn but I know that people may don't like because his paint's are speciffical.

This is excellent - the shape and the pose both work very well. and using super glue while shaping something - very brave.

The title fits the sculpture perfectly. The type of clay used and the way it's shaped does give it a very light, weightless feel. :)

Its amazing what a little wire and glue can do. Pure magic!
Love the feel of it.
And yes, one should always open the window when doing these things

on the main page it looks like she was coming out of the water like a mermaid. but clicked on it and saw it wasn't but its a really nice sculpture. it reminds me of a scene from Titanic where Jack and Rose were like flying with the boat across the water

amazin work, super glue is very smelly stuff xD

have you ever tried Paverpol for hardening fabrics? its good stuff makes it waterproof too

im faving this one :3

hey thanks a lot for telling me about Paverpol
I just went on their website and it looks great
Super Glue is great but it's very dangerous too because in contact with fabrics it releases A LOT of vapors... I once just sniffed a little while hardening some fabrics and I instantly got tears in my eyes (and a curse on my lips :D)

I have a few projects involving a lot of fabrics and paverpol seems a better option than super glue for this

thanks (you saved my life :D)

awww hehe lol, paverpol is safe and easy to use doesnt release any vapours or causes tears (and curses :D), u need one window open and thats it just for the fresh air, (it sent me happy a little)

Super glue makes me go very funny :XD: safer to use paverpol, im getting some soon hopefully, its very effective and useful <--- waterproof too, ;) outside projects ^^

Im glad I saved your life :XD: ive only discovered it recently too ^^ adn found it much beter then super glue ^^

you're seeing this from a very human perspective (which is normal I guess :D)
but here an empty heart means that she's completely detached from everything
... and the chain IS floating - originally [link] the chain was the thing holding her in the air (away from everything)
anyway glad you like it :D
thank you
