The Time Eccentric by hypnothalamus The Time Eccentric by hypnothalamus
I was walking outside and this idea came to me all of a sudden... I almost lost my footing. then I drew it over coffee (as usual) but didn't realize I was using ball-pen - which by the way is amazing, but hard to preserve especially when mixing with soft pencils - you need to fix the pencils (spray or lamination) but the pen spreads on the paper making the lines a bit too strong in some cases... so yeah, this might not be for sale in the original form unless I put it in a plastic or glass case
the morale of this is to always use pigment ink pens (although sometimes I prefer the feel of ball-pen sliding on paper)
you can see now why I'm very grateful for scanners

This one is great. Love the tiny and yet fitting head on the mountainous body.

Wow, I have to say, I admire your style a lot! Have you heard of the video game Dark Souls?

thanks! unfortunately haven't had the time to check video games in years
when I started programming (3D graphics) in high-school, I kinda lost contact with games, still followed them a bit because my brother was playing but that's about it :)

...Huh, what an odd coincidence.
Speaking of Dark Souls, I was about to mention that this reminded me a bit of a living, hourglass-version of Gravelord Nito.

No problem! If you ever have the chance maybe check that game out, the art style is very similar in ways to your work. Your Lux - Lord of Light Reminds me of the last boss in the game Gwyn - Lord of Cinder. I saw some zbrush sculpts in your gallery, they looked very nice. I love doing 3d art.

brilliant. It has an almost anime-like quality, between the symbolic, I presume, distortion of body out of proportion with the arche/sterotypical face of an old man, a common symbol of time.

unique :-)

I exclusively draw just with a ball point pen, bic.. lol, it feels less rough than a pencil and doesn't make that annoying scratching sound..

before reading your comment, I thought the style is so free, i guess that comes more easy with a ball-pen. School-days scribbling...Love the picture either way

yeah it's easier and you can also vary the intensity of the stroke whereas with ink pens you get black and that's it
I should try some calligraphic fountain pens - manga artists and even classical artists used to draw like that - and the effects are different but richer then technical drawing pens

I used to draw with ball pens all the time, they have a great feel and how each one is different :D but youre right, most of the time the ink is shit, lol

well one way would be not to mix ball-pen with soft pencils - because soft pencils only need the fixing (the ball-pen will probably last a long time on its own)
but yeah once you mix them you have a problem
the inks that are recommended in drawing are pigment inks (china ink) since they last a long time and don't react in time with the paper
more recently I started to think about these things... I also started to do my prints with pigmented inks on paper, in a professional photo lab (shit just got more serious :) )
