I use my own program written in Delphi/Pascal
the 3d engine is also personal and completely software but lately been thinking of adding OpenGL for increased speed

thank you
I once explained my nickname to someone
it was about the negative feedback in a system which would be the most powerful driving force towards perfection, never satisfied, always changing, improving... this is inspired by how I function (mostly the never satisfied part and always need to do more/different/new stuff)
:D

Amazing... How did you do that?

:iconhypnothalamus:
hypnothalamus Featured By Owner Jun 5, 2008  Professional General Artist
well I wrote a program that generates a connected labyrinth on a cube (here the printed cube version [link] ) and then I change the shape of the cube while I draw it... x^n+y^n+z^n=1 gives you different shapes for different n - n=2 gives you the sphere and n=infinity gives you the cube
then rendered with my 3d graphics engine and that's about it :D

It must have taken you a very long time to come up with that! :o

the hardest part was the generation of a labyrinth on a cube - you get some special issues at certain edges of the cube

actually it's x^n+y^n+z^n=1
and the power n is the one that varies from 0.5 to 10 or something
for n=1 you get the cube
n=2 gives you the sphere of course
the rounded cube is for n larger than 2
the star figure is for n<1

but yeah you got the idea :D

:iconseven7seven:

Yeah. I noticed it changing only after my lazy flash loaded. :P
I knew the rounded cube, with which you start out by, as n=6.

It's really neat. What's it redered with?

my own render engine - no openGL no nothing
you know when you actually write the procedure for drawing a polygon with zbuffer, texture and bump mapping, normal interpolation... stuff like that :D

Lovely! :D
All of which in action-script and flash? That must take a heck of a lot of code.

All the animations look great, is there something you're using them for? Like a permanent projection in a museum, or an exhibition? Or just for fun? :giggle:

I'm using these for some films that I intend to make in the future (probably before I die :D ) but they are also standalone work of arts
the code is written in Delphi/Pascal
