it is generated - I wrote the whole program that creates the tube, puts in textures, reflections, normal map then there's some post processing done in PS, overlaying the initial animation and the deformed one (used the polar coordinates transform) this could be made by hand in a 3d program but the initial project was made for this - [link] - and it can create larger dragons too
Wow.....Where to begin? I am no artist by any stretch of the imagination, but this is so superb and so smooth. The lighting and reflection of the scales is simply astonishing and must have taken ages. <3
For the record, no word or emoticon exists capable of describing the amount of pure win in this animation. Testing or not, this has got to be one of the best ones I've seen. I can only imagine how long the reflective effect on the scales took...
thanks a lot as for the reflections - they're tweaked so it's basically a texture applied as a function of the normals and not real reflections the thing worked at a few frames per second but that will change soon when I put everything under OpenGL and that should be real time
